Types of Carrier Heating and Cooling Systems

The perfect Carrier system for your home depends on several factors, including the physical specifications of your home. Whichever innovative products you and your expert Carrier dealer select, there are 4 primary types of Carrier heating and cooling systems: split systems, hybrid heat split systems, duct-free split systems and packaged systems. Split Systems >Split systems takes two efficient systems, one inside and one outside, and puts them together for one purpose, your home heating and cooling comfort. The most typical and traditional heating and cooling systems are split systems. An innovative Carrier split system includes:

  • Air Conditioner—Cools refrigerant
  • Furnace and Evaporator Coil, or a Fan Coil—Converts refrigerant and circulates air
  • Ducts—Carry the air throughout your home
  • Control or Thermostat—Your interface for controlling your system
  • Optional Air Quality Accessories such as Air Cleaners or Ventilators—Clean your air before it circulates throughout your home.

Hybrid Heat Split System

A Carrier hybrid heat split system is a more energy-efficient variation of the traditional heating and cooling split system. The inclusion of a heat pump allows the option of electricity-fueled heating and cooling, in addition to gas furnace heat. A cost-effective Carrier hybrid heat split system includes:

  • Heat Pump —Cools and/or heats refrigerant
  • Furnace and Evaporator Coil —Converts refrigerant and circulates air
  • Ducts —Carry the air throughout your home
  • Control or Thermostat—Your interface for controlling your system
  • Optional Air Quality Accessories such as Air Cleaners or Ventilators—Clean your air before it circulates throughout your home.

Duct-Free Split Systems

Is your home or business ductless? Not a problem with Carrier products. We at Pierce-Phelps provide Duct-free split heating and cooling systems for both commercial and residential uses. Their duct-free systems are quiet, efficient, and cost effective.

Residential duct-free systems have a couple options including:
  • High wall systems
  • And multi-split systems.

Our commercial options include:
  • High wall systems
  • Under ceiling systems
  • Cassette systems

These systems are great options for rooms or even entire buildings where a duct system is impractical. Duct-free systems can also be creatively combined to complement your duct system optimizing your system’s efficiency.

Along with a split system there is also a multi-split system. The difference between a split system and a multi-split system is multiple indoor units as opposed to one indoor unit connected to one external unit.

Packaged Systems

If your home does not have the space for the multiple separate products typically found in a split system, Carrier offers several packaged solutions. From one-room units to entire home systems in a single package, Carrier has a variety of options, including:

  • Packaged Hybrid Heat Dual Fuel Systems – Hybrid heat systems adjust to changing temperatures to use the most efficient method of heating and cooling of your home. This system is energy efficient, which means it is also cost efficient.
  • Packaged Heat Pump – Heat pumps provide both heating and cooling. The packages systems are highly efficient and environmentally friendly.
  • Packaged Gas Furnace & Air Conditioner- This package uses a gas furnace and an air conditioner to provide you with the best of both heating and cooling.
  • And Packaged Air Conditioner – This air conditioner package is quiet running and uses environmentally sound Puron refrigerant.

Carrier has designed uniquely packaged products to provide heating and cooling systems that bring comfort to you no matter the outside conditions.

Geothermal

Are you environmentally concerned? Carrier’s geothermal heat pumps are environmentally friendly, cost efficient, 2-in-1 heating and cooling system, and will help sustain our dwindling fossil fuels.>
To better suit you and your home’s unique needs, Carrier has multiple geothermal models to choose from such as:

  • GT-PX Series
  • GT-PG Series
  • GT-PX Split Series
  • GT-PE Outdoor Split Series
  • GT-PW High-Temp Series
  • GT-PW Series>

The heat pump simply moves heat energy form one place to another. The geothermal heat pump removes heat energy stored in the earth and/or the earth’s groundwater and transfers it to the home. Also known as a “ground-source”, the heat pump is an electrically powered device that uses the natural heat storage ability of the earth and/or the earth’s groundwater to heat and cool your home or business.
A geothermal heating and cooling system can help you save from 40% up to 70% on your monthly utility bill. Certain models also qualify for the Federal Tax Credit. All around this system will put money back in your pocket, help save the environment, and bring comfort to your home.
